More new programs start next week
As 2012 rolls on so too do The Burlington Pond’s programs. This week, the Intermediate Rep and Super 5s and 6s sessions will come to a close, with new sessions for both programs starting next week. That makes now the perfect time to register your kids!
The Super 5s and 6s program will start Friday, February 10th at 4:40 p.m. and run for eight weeks. Designed for high-end players aged five or six, or by Pond instructor approval, Super 5s and 6s is the perfect place for young players who are the best on their teams and who seem to be excelling in their age group.
Super 5s and 6s will be taught the fundamentals of playing hockey at the rep level by head instructor Greg Moore. The high tempo sessions will revolve around power skating to advance each player’s stride, quickness and agility. Overspeed drills and puck handling are also incorporated into the program to develop puck control and shot.
The eight week session will focus on: skating powerfully, explosive quick starts, acceleration, edge control including forwards and backwards crossovers, puck handling and passing and shooting.
Our intermediate rep session runs every Wednesday, starting February 8th, at 4:40 p.m. and also goes for eight weeks. Taught by Greg as well, this session is aimed at rep hockey players aged seven to nine.
The program itself is an advancement of the Super 5s and 6s session. It’s a high tempo class that works on hockey fundamentals including power skating to advance the player’s skating stride, quickness and agility, combined with overspeed drills and puck handling to develop both puck control and shot.
If your young rep player is ready to be pushed to the next level in their hockey game, register for these programs before they start next week.
