If you love salon quality manicures but don’t necessarily have the time or money to visit the salon, bring the salon to you and give yourself a mani in the comfort of your home while you watch TV or chat with a friend on the phone.
Start by cleaning and drying nails, then pushing the cuticles back with a cuticle stick. OPI nail care products are popular products at Star Beauty and they’re some of the best we offer so we recommend using the OPI Base Coat or Treatment to prevent nail polish from staining your nails.
When beginning to apply the nail polish to your fingernails, be sure to wipe both sides of the brush on the bottle opening so you don’t get too much polish on the brush and risk it running – either on your nails or on your furniture.
To avoid streaks and clumps and for a nice even polish, start by brushing from nail cuticle to tip in the centre of the nail first and work your way out to the edges. Once the nail is covered, smooth the surface with one last stroke of the brush. Once you’ve done this to all of the nails, put on a second coat of polish.
Since you’re likely not a professional, you may make a few mistakes and get some polish outside of the lines. When this happens, you can easily clean them up with an OPI reusable cuticle stick dipped in nail polish remover. It’s like an eraser for your nails!
When all of your fingernails are painted with two coats, shine and seal the lacquer with one coat of OPI Top Coat. This will seal in the colour and help it to last longer. For a complete salon-like added touch, you can also amp up your cuticles with one drop on each cuticle of OPI Avoplex Nail & Cuticle Replenishing Oil. And, if you don’t have time to sit and let the polish dry, you can have it dry to the touch in minutes with two drops of OPIC DripDry Lacquer Drying Drops to each nail.
