A jewellery gift giving guide
Sometimes all a woman really needs is a fun piece of jewellery to complete an outfit. If there’s someone in your life who needs to add some trendy costume jewellery pieces to her wardrobe, then the gift of jewellery might be something you need to add to your gift giving list.
The key to giving jewellery as a gift – whether it’s a necklace, earrings or bracelet – is first and foremost, knowing your audience. Since you may not have the same jewellery style as the gift receiver, the last thing you want is to see the look of disappointment or disgust when they open their gift. If you’ve decided to give someone jewellery, in the months leading up to the occasion, study what that person wears and what they comment on liking/disliking.
When you set out for that special piece, have a price in mind. Even in costume jewellery, prices can range from low to high so know your budget and stay within it.
While necklaces and earrings tend to be one size fits all, you should have a rough measurement to work with for bracelets and rings since these things fit a little more specifically to the gift receiver’s body.
You can measure ring size by taking an existing ring and placing it on a ring sizer that often comes in jewellery magazines. Bracelet size can be measured by taking a measuring tape to the widest part of the hand/wrist.
